Running this weekend

Team Hendryx is holding practice at Blue Jacket Park, Baldwin Park neighborhood. Wish I could run with you all, my ankles are still recovering from my Wekiwa State Park trail run. Ankles are still sore, but the swelling is way down. Maybe I'll be running a little in the next couple weeks. The good news is I can ride again, so now I won't go cuckoo for cocoa puffs crazy insane just lifting weights.

note to self: remember ipod so i won't be subjected to gym muzak

Rocky Raccoon cont...

The RR 50/100 miler was an interesting experience. It takes a lot of mental fortitude to plan on running all day and all night. I couldn't get out and run the course since I have 2 sprained ankles.I saw how I did not prepare correctly for the day. People had tents ,chairs, blankets, BBQ's etc. I just showed up and sat on the ground. Sean looked good the 1st lap. After waiting close to 3 hours for him to complete the 2nd lap, I knew he was in trouble. There were a lot of people planning on walking the entire 50 miles...yikes!!! I knew he didn't want to walk the last 16 so we called it a day. There's only so much you can do after your body starts to cramp everywhere . Forcing yourself to go on in pain for hours is just going to cause future issues.
The park was nice and the runners really friendly. There seems to be a lot of camaraderie at these ultras which is pretty cool.

Rocky News...coming soon

We will be on our way back home in a few hours. I will post pics soon of the race. Sean is working on the race report. He'll be posting soon. Check back soon for my observations of the race.
Note to self: don't do any 50 gazillion milers unless I have lost my mind.

Rocky Raccoon 50 miler

We are here in TX and getting ready to head to Huntsville State Park for packet pick-up. The weather is a nice 70 degrees, slightly windy and some gray clouds. I'm going text news of how Sean is doing tomorrow. Sean has done the training and is ready to go experience the unknown of running 50 miles. I'm optimistic he will prevail and finish.
I can't carry him, so I hope he can walk after at least to the car ! No matter what happens, this will be a great experience for coach Sean and Team Hendryx. Check out the race website to see pictures of trail conditions. We hear it may be torn up from mtn. bike usage. We'll see. Stay tuned :-)
